NEW YEARS EVE 2009 - HOCKEY GAME

We sometimes hear people say “I don't need wireless.” Well, just imagine trying to cable this New Years Eve show shot by Andy Webb of Captain Boom Fireworks. Nine floor positions plus two positions overhead... then shooting the show from a sound booth high at the other end of the arena. Andy sent us a video and wrote:
“Here's a YouTube Video of the New Year's Eve show I shot at a hockey game with Firelinx wireless. We had space to put all the modules on a cart in the Zamboni tunnel (see photo above) at the right end of the rink. We turned on all the firing modules, established comms, and did a continuity check. Then we put them in standby mode and waited for the last 10 minutes of the hockey game. At game end, we put the modules into position, stepped away and armed them. Moments later, I was in the sound booth on the other end of the rink. We started the time code and were on our way.

I had only three items that did not fire, likely due to connection issues on the rails themselves. We pulled one of the E-Matches and noted that it had indeed fired. Not bad given that we moved the boards into position and fired them within about 3 minutes.”

So your next question might be “Do I really need Reliable Wireless?” Well the obvious answer is YES!!! Consider this particular venue... an indoor sports arena with overhead firing positions blocked by large metal structures and metal catwalks that cause radio wave interference and reflections. Now add a few thousand cell phones, wireless communication systems for the crew and staff, and on and on. Firelinx’s patented Reliable Wireless system performed flawlessly. Our exclusive repeater function in the Dragonfly firing modules had no problem reaching the overhead positions. That’s what Reliable Wireless is all about.

Firelinx Reliable Wireless technology can handle the most hostile of environments with ease. Bill Fleming of SkyArt fireworks wrote:
“We felt so strongly about Firelinx that we purchased a system in December 2007. Since that time we've done many displays with Firelinx in some very challenging environments. We used the system in mid-February to do a Pyromusical in Edmonton when the temperature was -20C, and then in July at the Rexall Edmonton Indy races when the air was flooded with radio interference from race car telemetry systems, onsite safety communications, and a large number of TV and radio broadcasters. It could have been a nightmare for a wireless firing system, but Firelinx took these challenges in stride and performed admirably time after time.”
One other item of note from New Year’s Eve... Rick Simpson at Aerial Fireworks set a new extreme temperature record, firing his Firelinx show at Fort MacMurray Canada at an extreme -45C! Seize the night!
